Siemens Venture Trainset
Three new trainsets are currently being manufactured by Siemens for the Northlander service. The Venture Trainset consists of one locomotive and three passenger cars.
Passengers can look forward to comfortable seating with integrated power outlets and USB charging ports. The trainsets also feature wide aisles, large adjustable tray tables and overhead reading lights.
The lightweight aluminum frame enhances energy efficiency and reduces fuel consumption. The trainsets will operate bi-directionally, which will further increase efficiency and meet the highest emission standards in the market class.
Accessibility Features
Passenger cars will be equipped with large, fully accessible washrooms and floor treatments, making it easy and safe to move while travelling long distances.
Every trainset will feature boarding facilities and designated mobility aid spaces so passengers that travel with mobility aids have ample space. Seats will be available for individuals who provide support services to passengers.
Braille signage will be provided on essential features such as seat numbers and call-for-aid buttons.
Onboard announcements will be available in both audio and visual formats.
Comfort and Amenities
The Northlander will feature modern amenities aimed at enhancing the travel experience. This includes access to Wi-Fi.
A variety of seating options will be available to customers including seats of two, single-aisle seats as well as a pod option with two bench seats and a table, which will accommodate up to four people. Open overhead luggage space will be available to all passengers.
