First Northlander Trainset Arrives in Ontario

Project Overview: 

The arrival of the first Northlander trainset in Ontario marks a significant milestone for the new era of passenger rail service in the north.

This milestone demonstrates Ontario Northland’s ongoing progress in providing a modern and accessible passenger rail service. 

In the coming months, the trainset will undergo substantial testing and commissioning, before entering service.

Two additional trainsets are being manufactured for the service, expected to be delivered in 2026. The Venture Trainset consists of one locomotive and three passenger cars.

  • Spacious, accessible washrooms that support mobility aids. Flooring has been designed to ensure safe and easy movement throughout long journeys. 
  • Comfortable seating for long-distance trips, with power outlets and USB charging ports, LED lighting, and wider aisles to accommodate mobility devices.
  • Wi-Fi, food and beverage service, and open overhead luggage space.
  • Seat numbers and call buttons marked with Braille signage. 
  • Onboard announcements delivered in both audio and visual formats.
