(Thunder Bay, Ontario – Wednesday, February 12, 2020) – Earlier today, the Honourable Greg Rickford, Minister of Energy, Northern Development and Mines, announced Ontario Northland will be extending its bus service to Thunder Bay, beginning April 2020. The new route will make transportation easier for communities and passengers in Northwestern Ontario by providing seamless connections from Thunder Bay to Eastern Ontario, including stops in Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury and North Bay with connections to Toronto and Ottawa.
Ontario Northland’s motor coach service will operate six days a week and will have stops including Lakehead University and Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences.
“Our team is excited to provide scheduled bus service to Thunder Bay,” said Tracy MacPhee, Director of Passenger Operations. “We look forward to introducing Ontario Northland’s reliable and friendly service to Northwestern Ontario and connecting more passengers to hospitals and educational institutions as well as Toronto and Ottawa.”
Since 2018, Ontario Northland has extended its service to Espanola, Sault Ste. Marie, Wawa and White River as part of the Ontario government’s commitment to improving intercommunity bus transportation in the north.
