The Manager ITS will provide vision and leadership that will guide the implementation and maintenance of all centralized IT services and will support current and new technology initiatives that align with the business objectives of Ontario Northland.


  • Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to the ITS staff
  • Manage the ITS staff and schedule to ensure 24/7 support for enterprise, network and business critical systems
  • Work with division stakeholders to determine current and future technology needs
  • Review current ITS systems and solutions and deliver guidance on product lifecycle, upgrade and migration opportunities in order to ensure ITS is providing cost effective and relevant technology solutions
  • ITSM (ITIL) process definition, including the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives for ITS and Corporate Services
  • Work with division heads and IT staff to maintain and improve on the IT service continuity plan (disaster recovery plan)
  • Work with vendors and industry colleagues to ensure the enterprise is secure from existing, new and emerging security threats / cyber risks
  • Plan and manage the annual IT operating and capital budgets
  • Identify and implement efficiencies across the enterprise using technology to improve productivity and increase value
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining the ITS service catalogue
  • Responsible for updating, maintaining and enforcing the corporate ITS policy
  • Regular updates and reports to the ITS team, senior management and executive
  • Subject matter expert on IT trends, techniques and opportunities that can benefit Ontario Northland
  • Establish a network of IT managers and leaders in other private and public sector organizations to share knowledge and best practices
  • Report ITS related KPI and metrics to the Executive team
  • Establish requirements and participate in evaluation of RFPs as technology subject matter expert
  • Ensure ITS holds and maintains appropriate certifications & compliance (PCI, SOC, etc.)


  • University degree or college diploma in Information Technology, Business or related field
  • 6-8 years’ experience in IT.  Experience in an enterprise setting and/or public sector experience is considered an asset
  • Experience in managing teams and/or technology programs
  • Experience planning and executing projects using project management techniques, ITIL/ITSM processes
  • Experience with technology related strategic planning, execution and policies
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology and automation to solve business problems
  • Continuous improvement mindset, practitioner
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on listening, coaching, judgement and decision making
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • ITIL certification an asset
  • Previous work experience/knowledge of transportation industry an asset
  • Previous experience working with MRP/ERP systems an asset
  • Bilingualism an asset
