ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:

Under the direction and supervision of the Manager Marketing and Pricing, the Business Analyst assists with the marketing of competitive and profitable freight transportation, ongoing customer contact, and service offerings associated with the Rail division’s freight operations.

MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in the development of rate structures, analyzes price levels proposed by other railways, and accepts rates with other railways
  • Arranges publication of local, domestic, international rates and divisions
  • Assists in the development and implementation of product strategies and tactics related to pricing, positioning, and service expectations
  • Conducts studies, prepares and presents recommendations to secure new blocks of traffic or to retain existing traffic
  • Researches and analyzes data to compile reports and develop information within the Rail Department related to revenue levels and traffic volumes
  • Collaborates with other rail departments in the delivery of transportation solutions
  • Assists in supporting the Rail Division’s associated information technology based reporting systems
  • Keeps abreast of market, customer, and technology trends within the industry and recommends appropriate changes to marketing strategies
  • Maintains regular contact and rapport with customers and connecting carriers
  • Participates in various trade associations, functions and related educational courses
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Some travel required

REQUIREMENTS:

  • University undergraduate degree or equivalent in Business or Marketing
  • Three (3) or more years of related experience
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and proven negotiating skills
  • Expertise in project and supply chain management
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite software (Excel)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Experience with Railcar Management (RMI) Transportation software is an asset
  • Bilingual (French and English) is an asset
